it’s all about image…

Genesis 1:26-8 (The Message)

26-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

Did you get that? The creator of the universe… created you… in his image. That must mean you are exactly like he meant for you to be. If you are a writer… he gave you that. If you are a singer… he gave you that. if you are a painter, set designer, graphic designer, actor, artist of any kind… the creator of all things created you to be in his image. WOW. He loves you so much. he has a very intentional desire to know you and to be your “go to” best friend. he revels in hte things that you create because he gave you the gifts to do that. again. WOW. amazing you made by amazing god.

how are you going to celebrate who you are today? how are you going to use the things that make you unique to point back to him, today? what can you think of that will reflect him big and massively today?

please… tell us… we all want to know….

me too…

Proverbs 25:13
Reliable friends who do what they say are like cool drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing!

Friends are important. Jesus…. had friends. Jesus invested in the lives of his friends. Relationships require time and effort… but like the verse says, reliable friends who do what they say are REFRESHING!

I was sitting with the cast of the ISHINE tour this past weekend, and it really made me aware of something.

The Rubyz were talking about how fun it is to be on tour with their friends that are doing the same things they are doing… caring about music, dancing, ministering… and how hard it is to go back home. Back where not everyone understands what they are about. Why they choose a career in Christian music over the cheerleading team at their local high school…. that type of thing.

It made me think about what makes us feel connected. We feel connected when we share similar interests. We also feel connected to someone when we know their story. If you hear someone talking about a real event in their real life, you feel like you know them. So, if learning about someone else makes you feel connected to them, maybe we should make a deliberate effort to learn about the people around us. maybe we should be diligent to share who we are and what we think and care about with others. you never know what someone else has going on.

If you were in school with one of the Rubyz and you knew they were performing in front of thousands on a regular basis, you might think they had it all. You definitely wouldn’t presume that they felt “out of place” or “different than everyone else”… wow, huh?! Guess what…at the risk of a major cheese factor, “we are all in this together”.

To make a friend, you have to be a friend. To keep a friend you have to stay a friend.

Today, invest in someone, learn their story. Find a way to connect… and be refreshed.

Shine like a star

“men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever.” daniel 12:3

do you see that? you are like a shining stars… if you lead others to rightness.

when you use the gifts and talents you have been given to point people toward the creator, you increase your personal glow factor. the bible tells you, you will shine brilliantly! what a blessing, but what a responsibility. be diligent to make sure that you influence others towards right.

when  we make choices that lead people away from light, away from right, we sacrifice our own potential to shine. the God of the universe wants to use you to show himself to others, don’t get in his way. allow him to use you to point people to him. this is a worthy mantle you have been given, spend time today restoring your soul.

God wants to know what hard choices you have today and he wants to show you which way to go. let him be  your guide today, in all things… and in effect you will become a beacon, a lighthouse, a guide for others.

meet david edmonson. a man who points others to right. to light.

dear fellow heARTists…

welcome to a place where you will be understood, appreciated, and ideally loved and appreciated. this is a place where fellow heARTists will share the ways that they are feeling, learning and growing.

God made some people to see the sky as blue. Then there are other people (like us) who were put here to interpret the shades of blue for others, so they can appreciate them. we think differently, we relate differently, we love hard core and feel intensely. we revel in the creation, as well as the creator.

not everyone gets us right away. they don’t have to. we have to learn to find our joy and acceptance in the one that made us in his image.

we have to see prayer as an ongoing conversation with the one that loves us more than we love ourselves. we will talk more about that later.

welcome. i hope you find something that feeds your heART.
