be like mike

mike hurst wrote a song for treehouse.

he took the message. the brand. the heart of the place. the ruminations of my mind.

and he crafted a beautiful song that perfectly captures the ‘treehouse”

after he wrote the song…. he gave me the demo, i’ve been listening to it alot…

he is still tweaking it to make it perfect.

do we do that? do we work on something until its the best it can possibly be? do we take our jobs, relationships, families into consideration like mike? do we take the time to do things with excellence.

Colossians 3:17 says, “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus . . . ” and later Paul writes, “Whatever you do, work at
it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward” (Colossians 3:23-24).

today, i want to be like mike.

when i get the finished product you will be the first to know. i’ll post it.

for now… here are the lyrics:

WHERE WE WANT TO BE  (the Treehouse Song)

way up here our friends are all around us

way up here we know that we are loved

this is where we want to be.

way up here we sing about Jesus

way up here we celebrate his love

there is nothing greater than worshipping our Savior.

c’mon c’mon everybody stand up,

c’mon c’mon dance around

this is where we want to be.

c’mon c’mon raise your hands up

c’mon c’mon sing it loud

this is where we want to be. where we want to be.

way up here we get a little crazy,

way up here we like to jump around,

this is where we want to be.

way up here we know that we’re forgiven

way up here we know that God is strong.

there is nothing greater, than worshipping our savior

c’mon c’mon everybody stand up,

c’mon c’mon dance around

this is where we want to be.

c’mon c’mon raise your hands up

c’mon c’mon sing it loud

this is where we want to be. where we want to be.

it makes me happy just to read the words and know that children are being taught to worship with such joy!! Thanks Mike for your desire for excellence and using your gift in such an uplifting way and Robyn for the reminder that we should all do the same in our area of influence.
