why i love @lhstudents, and thank you @brianmills247

I walked in the door last night and my 6th grader didn’t let me get two steps into the door before saying “did you hear what happened today?”

i wasn’t sure what she was talking about, but it didn’t take long for her to fill me in…

you see, kavi and several of her friends started a bible study at their school.

on wednesday night (the night before this) the student pastor, Brian Mills, told them that a girl in the back had asked if he was going to do an invitation to Jesus in his sermon. he wasn’t planning to, but she said that the friend she had with her needed Jesus and so she was hoping Brian would give the invitation. Of course, he altered his plan to include this in the message. many middle schoolers responded and took the step of faith to believe in Jesus.

apparently there was more because when kavi and her friends held their Bible study, they decided to have an invitation.

she said that Brian had said that night, that each time might be the one time someone is going to be at church (or wherever you are). it might be the only time. and if you haven’t given them the opportunity, they might miss out on the biggest best thing we can experience. with that in mind… the girls gave an invitation after their bible study.

she prayed out loud and asked that if anyone wanted to say yes to jesus that they would repeat it in their heart. then asked for a show of hands (preach, sister!)

15 out of 24 girls indicated a decision of some sort…

boom.

i don’t know that i’ve ever been in a small group bible study like this one, that held a straight-up invitation.

i think we presume that if someone is in a bible study, they already know the author of life… or why would they be studying? but seriously! what an example.

why don’t i always ask people if they know him? because how fun to introduce them to the one who already loves them enough to die for them.
