recorded a new worship song last night with some amazing people in an amazing place.

Good to Me was written by me, Perry Miears and Beau Hoffman.

recorded at Moose Studios – the best place ever.

musicians – Jim VanCleve on fiddle… what a gift to have him on this song.

Josh Brown… there are not enough words to explain how much i think of him as a person and as a musician. wow.

perry miears… i have wanted to write a song with this guy from the first time i heard his voice, a couple of years ago. knowing him and his wife has been one of the great blessings of my life… and now we have written a worship song, (along with my friend Beau Hoffman) that is one of my favorite songs i ‘ve been blessed to co-write so far. it talks about a Grace that changes everything, and a God who loves us relentlessly. I can’t wait to share it… wow. what a blessing.

and super producer… Jeremy Brown. Mad Skills and the chillest guy ever. just so very grateful.

the offering song that wanted to be a salvation song

offering of worship (the salvation song)

So i wanted to write a song about how there are different  ways to give offerings…  I really wanted to have a song that would be an offering of worship… in the meantime, i had been wanting to write a salvation song for awhile.

yesterday, between worship experiences in treehouse i shared the beginnings of what i thought was an offering song with ben… and sang him a few notes…that he turned that into something so special. it was literally 5 minutes of magical…

then today by a wonderful act of God our schedules collided and we added the second verse, a wonderful bridge and wrapped it up… and it turned into the perfect salvation song…

i think because we were out of the way of it, but were wanting to write an offering of our own worship, the celebration of our own salvation came out… God was so kind to give us this song and wow… just can’t wait to share it.

are you so excited about your salvation that it oozes into all of your projects?

i was asked how a journalism major could help in ministry… hahaha…

robyn in her natural state

in my natural state

this was my response:

i understand you have some questions, i’ll tell you some thing that i’ve learned over the years…
if you can write and design and be creative you can help your ministry in a multitude of ways. you become a multipurpose team member. you can’t imagine how many times the skills you learn with a jmc (journalism/mass communications) major will come into play. frankly, if you can learn those tools, you can become a valuable member to any team. however, even more so in a ministry setting where the resources will be tighter and the stewardship will be key, it is an advantage to have a team member that can do many things.

i use what i learned at samford in the jmc program every single day of my life.
from branding whole ministries, to designing curriculum, to preparing speeches, writing drama and video elements… the list is endless.
for example, today: i am writing a pilot episode for a new sitcom, i designed a christmas ticket for a women’s minsitry, i designed a new logo for a friend’s social media business. tomorrow: i will distribute cue sheets and call sheets for actors, i will produce take home devotionals for sunday school experiences. i recently created a logo for a students ministry girls retreat….

i cant stress to you enough how helpful, useful and worthwhile a degree in JMC is in the ministry world.
